RFK Community Schools
RFK Community Schools is comprised of six autonomous Pilot Schools serving 4,000 students, located at the site of the former Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. The school was built to relieve underperforming and overcrowded schools located in the historically underserved neighborhoods of Pico-Union and Koreatown. Students are offered a rigorous and personalized instructional program that embodies the social justice legacy of Senator Robert F. Kennedy. The RFK Schools embrace respect for diversity, creativity and innovation, and social justice. They strive to make sure their students are college, career, and world ready.
In 2011 Dr. Rotheram extended The UCLA Family Commons to the RFK Campus with health fairs, walking groups, social skills classes, and other services. The school has served as an excellent connection to the community in the Pico-Union area, and has allowed for outreach not just to students, but to their families as well.
